Who i am
Maryland based artist and violinist Alexandra Crosby began playing violin at 9 years old and painting at 16.
Inspired by her time spent in Peabody Conservatorys’ Preparatory program 2003-2006, Alexandra has played in giging duos, quartets, and trios. She began playing with quartet “Drank the Gold”and taught privately in 2018. She taught violin at the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs 2020-2021
Ms. Crosby earned her BFA in 2009 from Syracuse Univeristy where she studied oil painting. Her paintings were inspired by portrature depicting close friendships, self-identity, and landscapes citing outdoors trips in the Adirondacks, the underground spaces of West Virginia, and the Gunks. An avid caver and product of Syracuse University’s fine outing club (SUOC) 2007-2014, Ms. Ali has gathered data on expeditions for the proper cartography of some of the deepest caves systems in Germany Valley, West Virginia.
Ali has attended artist residencies like Vermont Studio Center, The Rome Art Program in and Chautauqua Institution. In 2013 she earned her MFA in Critical Studies from Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD.
In 2023, Ms. Crosby earned her NYS Teaching Certificate in Visual Arts. She continues teaching privately at Music and Arts in the Crofton area.
